What is OA?
Overeaters Anonymous is a Fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength, and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively.
There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology or religious doctrine; we take no position on outside issues.
Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive eating and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.

Where could I find a meeting on Saturday? Also how much do the books costs?
So sorry I did not see your email in time! We have a virtual meeting every Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There is a face to face meeting on Tuesdays at Grace Episcopal Church in Nyack. That meeting meets from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. As for the books, you can go to OA.org to purchase any literature you may need. They also have free information on that website for newcomers. Welcome to OA!
BTW, thank you for following us!!! : )
You can show up to any meeting, Rosalynd! All are welcome!!!

Hi, Nina! Thank you for inquiring about our meetings…you can download our meeting list from rocklandcountyoa.org. Just click on the lines at the top left side of the home page for a Meeting List tab. That will take you to our meeting list.
In short, we have 3 meetings a week. Our next meeting is on Zoom on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m.. This Saturday’s meeting is a guest speaker and we have an exciting speaker coming to share their OA journey with us. Please join us if you can. The Zoom meeting ID is on the meeting list.
Our other meetings are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Tuesday meeting is a face to face meeting only and the Thursday meeting is on Zoom only. Tuesday’s meeting is a rotating format and Thursday’s meeting is a Big Book study meeting. We use the Alcoholics Anonymous book, also known as the Big Book for guidance as to how to recover from compulsive eating (as well as other Overeaters Anonymous approved books).
Please let us know if you need further assistance…together we can recover! Yours In Service, Laura N.
Following. I also like to know
Btw, Nina, the face to face meeting sells OA literature. If you cannot get to that particular meeting, we ask prospective members to purchase their OA literature from oa.org. That way, the money will go straight to our parent organization, Overeaters Anonymous. If you need electronic downloadable literature, OA offers that, too. They also have some literature that is available for free in a PDF format on oa.org.
The Tuesday meeting is a 6 p.m., and the Thursday meeting is at 5:00 p.m.. All of our meetings are EST/EDT. Thank you again for your inquiry! Yours In Service, Laura N.
What is a good beginners meeting to attend?
Thank you.
Any OA meeting you attend will welcome beginners. Rockland County OA has a face-to-face meeting tomorrow, Tuesday nights from 6 to 7 p.m., EDT and it’s at Grace Episcopal Church in Nyack, NY. You can check our meeting list for our Thursday and Saturday meetings, but those are on Zoom only. You can call in by phone to those meetings if you prefer.
New Jersey, Westchester County, NYC and The Bronx all offer OA meetings. Some may have a beginner focus, but that would be indicated on the website under the Topic heading. Go to overeatersanonymous.org for meeting details. Once there, you can search by country, state, town and/or zip code.
We love beginners and if you call our Hotline at 845-639-2620, you can get a member’s number if you would like to speak to us one on one to discuss the issue further. Thanks for reaching out to Rockland County OA! Please come back…together we can!
